Foley Physical Therapy has been open for 5 years already!
Each Thanksgiving over these past 5 years I have taken some time to reflect and be thankful for the support (small and large) from so many people for the previous year. A mission of my business is to "pay forward" that good will with financial support to local Pittsburgh charities. The publication of these donations stems from a desire to promote these groups to others looking to donate locally during the season of thanks and giving.
Once again Foley Physical Therapy is a proud supporter of the following
Pittsburgh organizations doing great things for the people and children in our City:
The Center that C.A.R.E.S
The Children’s Institute Amazing Kids Fund
The Jubilee Soup Kitchen
Of course, I cannot thank Beth Fedorowich and her Fitness Essentials crew with whom I share space in the spectacular EngineHouse16 Collaborative, enough for these 5 years. Our work space is an excellent blueprint for how all health and wellness providers should communicate and function with people in all stages of rehabilitation and wellness, all ages and abilities, working in a 1:1 environment together.
Pulling out of this crazy 1 1/2 years has been a long slog for every one of us. We're coming back though! In this last year I have hired a fantastic clinician,
Dr. Sean Crandell who will permit me to expand the FPT goals in all ways including treating the aging athlete as well as attention on cognitive health as it relates to overall rehabilitation. Sean is interested also in bike fitting the injured cyclist, as he himself is an acclaimed competitive local cyclist! We should be able to expand the Pay It Forward PT program: offering evaluations sponsored by FPT (and other generous donors) to those who can’t afford evaluations and action plans. Improving health literacy and equity in health care is something I feel my profession is uniquely positioned to influence. In 2022 I hope to coordinate my peers in clinical care and academics to brainstorm this into a more coherent concept that will permit physical therapists to be more involved improving patient understanding of their medical conditions, decisions and options.
Things are looking brighter on the horizon, but there are obstacles to that view for many.
As the late Rep. John Lewis said: “Too many of us still believe our differences define us”.
Let’s push off toward a new year together, again.
Thank you ALL for your new and old support!
Happy Thanksgiving and 2022.
